How Antistatic Materials Reduce Surface Charge and Dust Attraction

Insulating polymer surfaces can retain triboelectric charge. Antistatic materials provide a controlled route for charge dissipation and reduce the electrostatic attraction of airborne particles.
Why charge remains on polymers
Low conductivity prevents charge from redistributing or decaying quickly after contact and separation events.
What an antistatic coating changes
A surface layer can introduce ionic, conductive or moisture-assisted pathways that shorten charge decay.
Surface resistance is not the whole answer
Humidity, test voltage, electrode geometry, conditioning and charge-decay behavior can all change the interpretation.
Low-humidity performance deserves attention
Materials that rely on absorbed moisture may behave very differently in dry production or storage environments.
